Weather is driven by density differences in temperature and moisture, and between one place and another. These differences occur due to the angle of the sun which varies by latitude from the tropics. The strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream causing instability in the mid-latitudes creating extra tropical cyclones.
